Court of Appeals Judge Michael Garcia, a former federal prosecutor who spent years in private practice at large firms, was among several candidates interviewed over the weekend by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to replace James Comey, whom President Donald Trump fired on May 9.

    For whatever Judge Garcia is or isn‘t, and realizing that his function as FBI Director will be more expansive, this Country nonetheless should not countenance President Trump‘s venal ability to essentially pick his own prosecutor in deciding whether charges should be preferred against him as well as his associates regarding their alleged -- and seemingly likely -- collusion with Russia in potentially sundering our democratic electoral process!
