Thompson Wigdor has announced it will change its name to Wigdor LLP on Jan. 1, 2014, when name partner Kenneth Thompson is sworn in as Brooklyn's new district attorney. Founding partner Douglas Wigdor also said two associates have been promoted to partner, and the firm has brought on one of counsel and a new associate. The 10-attorney firm now includes Scott Grubin, most recently a managing director at Knight Capital Group who joined as of counsel in September. Grubin brings management-side experience to the firm's clients working in the financial services industry.

Senior associates David Gottlieb and Lawrence Pearson will become partners on Jan. 1.

Wigdor said the firm is "still in a growth phase" and will continue to expand its employment and criminal defense practice. He said the firm is "always looking for [lawyers with] a proven track record of trying cases, or a desire to be in court trying cases."
