Calling him a "Civil Rights Action Hero," Faiza Ali and Ahmed Jaber, standing left to right, recognized Paul Chevigny, an emeritus professor at the New York University Law School, right, for his continuing role in litigating the 1985 Handschu Decree, which established guidelines for police surveillance of political activity, and, in particular, for his leadership in using the decree to address police surveillance of the Muslim community. Linda Sarsour, sitting, also participated in the ceremony at the 12th Anniversary Gala of the Arab American Association of New York.
