The Cuomo-Schneiderman Moreland Commission

, New York Law Journal

In their Government and Election Law column, Jerry H. Goldfeder, special counsel at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, and Myrna Pérez, deputy director of the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law, write that the new Moreland commission starts out with a distinct advantage over prior panels. The governor and attorney general have selected several sitting district attorneys to serve, and all members who are lawyers have been appointed special deputy attorneys general. This gives it broad statutory jurisdiction to investigate all of state government.

I may be wrong but wasn't that $500,000,00 loan made to Eliot Spitzer by his father? If this is true then why didn't the authors identify the case?

The Moreland Commission is a joke. Andrew Cuomo has more than $20 million in his war chest so why would he be worried?
