A father who has custody of his son a majority of the year cannot be made to pay child support to the son's mother, even though the father has $20 million in assets and the mother has no income at all, a divided First Department panel ruled yesterday.

    One thing that is not clear from the article is whether the non-monied non-custodial parent is now required to pay child support. I would be very interested in how this will be addressed as per the statute it would seem this would be the case.
