David Ranta walked out of a Brooklyn courtroom a free man yesterday after prosecutors conceded the evidence against him had "degraded" to the point that they could not prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

    ADA O'Mara said Mr.Hynes, "did the right thing." It was Mr.Hynes that prosecuted this case in the first place. If that isn't chutzpah, I don't know what is. These people are unbelievable. You folks should do a Google for a Reginald Gousse and read NYTimes reporter Jim Dwyer's column.

    In that case Queens DA Brown let a predator loose to kill a man in a botched robbery attempt on Long Island. Mr.Brown actually had the unmitigated gall to say his office helped Nassau County PD identify and arrest Gousse. Truth is he did not.
