The Southern District U.S. Attorney's Office yesterday announced a civil mortgage fraud lawsuit against Bank of America Corp., accusing the company of defrauding government-backed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac of more than $1 billion.

    This is interesting development but not unexpected. With all the information, hearings, books and stories in all media properties about how the scandal unfolded, it was clear that more charges and lawsuits were coming even though there have been many already. These lawsuits are going to be going for at least a decade because of the complex nature of these transactions.
