Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday filled three of the five vacancies on the depleted Appellate Division, Third Department, but left the court short two judges and without any minority representation. He also named one judge each to the Second and Fourth Departments.

What's being said

  • NYS Supreme Court has many qualified justices that can be elevated to help clarify the rule of law and public policy in a just and ethnic- or racial-neutral way by their service.

One clear Cuomo gift, father and son, to New York has always been a diverse range of judicial excellence being appointed, and this group is exemplary.

    Thanks Gov!

  • All Democtrats...that‘s diversity in New York State.

  • The writer erred concerning remaining number of vacancies. With these latest appointments, there is currently only one vacancy in the 2nd Department, not four.
