Denial of Benefits Over 7-Minute Filing Delay Is Upheld

The wife of a state police investigator was not unfairly denied disability retirement because he died seven minutes before his application for benefits was received by the state, a divided appeals court has determined.

What's being said

  • For as long as I can remember, "deadline" times, does NOT begin, until (1) second, AFTER midnight!
    I AM aware though, that in certain circumstances, "deadlines" start, from the time a (for instance), policy starts, to the SAME time, it is "ended"(whatever day that is(within the life of the policy), BUT, I don‘t believe that this widows situation applies to the ladder rule.
