City Settles Lawsuits in RNC Arrests for $18 Million
Activists and civil rights attorneys hailed the settlement, which includes $7.6 million for plaintiffs lawyers' fees, as a vindication of their claim that police had no right to arrest some 1,800 protestors, bystanders, legal observers and journalists without individualized probable cause.
