The event gave Rivera a chance to thank her family and former colleagues at the City University of New York School of Law, and to praise her new colleagues on the state's high court. Among the former Court of Appeals judges attending the event were Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick, whom Rivera replaced, and former Chief Judge Judith Kaye. Lippman said that Rivera, 52, will be a "spectacular, great judge for many years to come."
