• Michael Alperstein has been appointed administrator of the assigned counsel plan for the Appellate Division, First Department. He will be responsible for the operational supervision of the criminal panel, including the evaluation of attorneys seeking appointments, assignments, vouchering and billing, investigation of complaints and professional development.

• Arnold & Porter has added Joshua Berick as a partner in the corporate and securities group from Linklaters. His mergers and acquisitions practice involves a range of domestic and cross-border transactions.

• Sidley Austin has added Andrew Auchincloss as partner in the private clients, trusts and estates group. Auchincloss, who focuses on estate and investment planning strategies under U.S. law for individuals and families in the United States and overseas, was a director in the wealth management group at Bernstein Global Wealth Management.

• Thompson & Knight has added Gregg Berman as a partner in the corporate and securities practice and Joseph Sarcinella as a counsel in the real estate and banking practice. Berman was a partner at Fulbright & Jaworski; Sarcinella was a partner at Arent Fox.

• Paul Hastings has elected four New York Lawyers to the partnership: Eric Allendorf, real estate; Maria Douvas, litigation; Randal Palach, corporate; and David Viklund, real estate.
