• Alejandro García Villalpando has joined Akerman Senterfitt as a shareholder in the taxation practice group focusing on domestic and international tax and corporate matters. He was counsel at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle.

• Construction law firm Peckar & Abramson has added senior partner Frank Rapoport, who will lead the firm's public-private partnerships practice. Rapoport, who concentrates on construction, government contracts, infrastructure development and public-private partnerships, was a partner at McKenna Long & Aldridge.

• Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney has promoted Daniel Rivlin, litigation, and Kelly Ann Toy, financial services, to counsel.

• Michael Stutman, a Mishcon de Reya partner and head of its New York family group, has been elected president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New York Chapter.

• The American Law Institute has named its newly elected members. New members in New York include Ethan Brecher, partner, Law Office of Ethan A. Brecher; Karin Ann DeMasi, litigation partner, Cravath, Swaine & Moore; Zachary Fasman, partner, Paul Hastings; Sean Griffith, professor, Fordham University School of Law; Kenneth Kettering, visiting professor, Brooklyn Law School; Judge Raymond Lohier of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit; and Richard Squire, associate professor, Fordham Law.
