Panel Finds Police Overstepped Bounds, Reverses Convictions

In separate criminal matters, the Fourth Department has suppressed a handgun discarded by a suspect under police pursuit and suppressed a weapon and drugs conviction because a police officer had no authority to make an arrest more than 100 yards outside his jurisdiction.
