Schaffer said the best part of the job is working with Kelly.
"He is an outstanding individual," Schaffer said. "He is extraordinarily intelligent. He has an incredible memory and an incredible attention span. In eight years, I never saw him lose his concentration. He is disciplined. He is principled; I have never seen him lie or exaggerated. He sticks to the facts. He is very tough in the best sense of the word."
Maynard said his goal is to meet the high standards of the commissioner and the traditions of the NYPD.
"I really would like to live up to the standard of excellence I have seen here and provide the best support we can to make sure the department can operate as effectively as possible," Maynard said.

Michael
While there are probably high hopes in the areas of personal liberty, privacy and constitutionality with his appointment, I wouldn't hold my breath. This guy will become as jaded as the last, will RUBBER STAMP every unconstitutional, immoral and unethical act by every NYPD member, and will probably continue the tradition of holding police officers rights OVER the rights of the citizenry. Hopefully this new legal beagle will hold the NYPD to the same standards they hold the citiznery up to. Then, perhaps he can reenforce the idea that THEY WORK FOR US, not the other way around. Then again, these idiots keep whining about assault rifles, when its handguns that the criminals are using against the citizens. And how many cops have been caught selling guns and contraband, yet quietly allowed to plea bargain outside the limelight.
