The State Association of Supreme Court Justices has established an annual Award for Judicial Excellence and Leadership in honor of the late Justice Martin Evans. The yet-to-be-identified inaugural recipient will be honored at the group's annual breakfast meeting, which will be held this year at 8 a.m. on Jan. 26 at the Warwick Hotel in midtown. Evans was a Manhattan Supreme Court justice for 22 years until his retirement in 1995. He then practiced at Herzfield & Rubin until a few months before his death in 2011 at 94. Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman and Chief Administrative Judge A. Gail Prudenti are scheduled to attend the gathering along with Evans family members.
