A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit—from left, Rosemary Pooler, Dennis Jacobs and Denny Chin—sat yesterday for the first time in the court's newly renovated courthouse at 40 Foley Square.

Below, from left, circuit judges Pierre Leval, Guido Calabresi, Gerard Lynch, Dennis Jacobs, Robert Katzmann and Denny Chin pose on Dec. 20 before moving the busts of Henry Friendly (left) and Learned Hand (right) from the court's temporary home at 500 Pearl St. to 40 Foley Square.

I'd love to see more of the room! That curved bench is a big change in more ways than one. Moving from the huge ceremonial courtroom at 500 Pearl back into 40 Foley Sq will bring down the size of the crowd that can be accommodated in a Court of Appeals argument session, and the curved bench looks like it reduces that even more.
But who knows what other big changes they've made.
