A Manhattan attorney who has already been suspended for misuse of escrow funds has been disbarred. Robert L. Cohen was disbarred yesterday by the Appellate Division, First Department, after being suspended last November for "substantial admissions under oath" and other undisputed evidence that he used more than $9,800 in escrow funds for personal use, misused his IOLA account and did not maintain bookkeeping records on his escrow account.
The disciplinary committee sought Cohen's disbarment because he did not appear or apply in writing for a hearing or reinstatement following his suspension. Cohen consented to the disbarment motion.
Cohen, a graduate of Fordham University School of Law, was admitted to the bar in 1969.
