• Nicholas Cannella, a partner at Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, has been named a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only bar group for attorneys with at least 15 years of trial experience.

• Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle has elevated Thomas Laurer to the partnership. With the promotion, Laurer, who is in the New York office, will relocate to the investment management group in London.

Alton Abramowitz, a senior partner of Mayerson Abramowitz & Kahn and a Law Journal columnist, has been named president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers THIS IS A TRAVESTY. THIS MAN NEVER HAD A SIGNED RETAINER AGREEMENT WITH ME, he and his colleagues forged my name on document after document, pretending to be my lawyers, without my knowledge or consent, and held two trial dates, of which I was unaware, not present (I am the Plaintiff) and he is supposedly being investigated for this. Obviously that is not the case. He is allowed to get away with fully criminal behavior. DISGUSTING.
